Ultra-sensitive magnetic field sensor
Robab Najafi Jabdaraghi , M.Sc., will defend the dissertation "Magnetometry by a proximity Josephson junction interferometer" on 23 February 2018 at 12 noon at the Aalto University School of Science. In this thesis, the Superconducting Quantum Interference Proximity Transistor (SQUIPT) magnetometers are investigated. Non-hysteretic SQUIPTs are demonstrated with enhanced sensitivity. A prototype SQUIPT based on an Nb-Cu-Nb SNS junction is presented. Furthermore, DC transport properties and shot noise are measured simultaneously. This technique opens the opportunity to measure shot noise in other nonlinear devices with high impedance including SQUIPT devices with very low dissipation.
